“I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember. At school I was always the ‘chubby’ friend and was always aware that I was bigger than everyone else my age.
“Throughout my life I have let my weight affect my confidence in social situations, always coming across as more reserved and quiet than I would have liked to be. However, when I started university I became more aware that I was letting my weight problems hold me back both socially and physically. I would shy away from group activities or situations where people were likely to take photos, I would much rather have been behind the camera than in front of it!
“Group photos would just highlight how much bigger I was than my friends and I would notice how my size affected the way I dressed. While everyone else was wearing nice dresses, I would be in jeans and floaty tops, trying to cover my size.
“During my time at university I tried to diet but it wouldn’t last long – too many nights out and post-clubbing visits to the chippy. When I finished university I decided it was finally time to get my act together and spend some time working on improving my health to prevent myself from being held back for the rest of my life.
“I did some research and found Cambridge Weight Plan. I loved the flexibility it provided along with the one-to-one support. I hated the idea of having to go to group weigh-ins.
“I have started living life more and more as the weight dropped off. I am now 100 per cent more confident within myself and am ready to enjoy the rest of my life as a more happy, confident and healthy me.”
