“I lost the majority of my weight on Cambridge Weight Plan in 2012, since then I haven’t looked back. Throughout school I was always the slightly ‘chubby’ one carrying a ‘little puppy fat’. People used to say to me that when I grew taller I would lose it, but I never did. I was bigger than all of my friends and although I lost a little bit after I left school, this never stayed off.
“When I was 19 I decided to do something about it. I had joined the gym a few years previous but my eating habits never changed. I decided it was all or nothing. I heard about Cambridge Weight Plan through a friend and contacted my local Consultant. Within 5 months I had lost my excess weight and was so happy!
“Lifestyle changes came with it, and now five years on I have maintained my weight and am still a healthy BMI.
“I have maintained my weight by training in the gym five to six times a week and eating a healthy balanced diet. I have a treat meal and dessert once a week.
“I never used to be comfortable in a bikini because I feel that they never used to fit properly. I used to wear a lot of swimming costumes.
“Before losing weight and training in the gym, I would have never stood in front of a camera and had my photo taken. I have a new found confidence and feel so much better when I go on holiday.
“Losing weight has made a massive difference to me. I can now wear clothes I would never have worn before. Changing my eating habits had to be a way of life, I have never had the body type or metabolism to keep weight off by eating unhealthily. Everything I eat six days a week is healthy and controlled, I could not eat fatty foods every day and expect to maintain a reasonable BMI.
“I used to eat a sugary bowl of cereal for breakfast, a sandwich and crisps for lunch sometimes with a chocolate bar, and for dinner I would eat anything stodgy like burger and chips, pizza or a lasagne/pasta dish. I would constantly snack as well, not on fruit, it would always be a cereal bar or bag of crisps.
“On a weekend I could eat anything up to three takeaways. I hardly used to drink anything apart from tea and a couple of glasses of squash a day.
“Now a typical day for me:
Breakfast – 40g oats, made with almond milk, 100g fat free Greek yoghurt and some blueberries Lunch – a chicken breast, or tin of tuna with 125g cooked rice and a green salad
Snack – orange or banana
Dinner – salmon fillet with asparagus
Snack – 200g fat free Greek yoghurt with 20g crunchy peanut butter
Four litres of water a day
I only drink alcohol once a month, when I do I try to stick to clear spirits with a diet mixer.
“Now I am a Cambridge Weight Plan Consultant I can share my passion for a healthy lifestyle with others. I love helping people to feel good, it is so exciting to see my clients’ faces when they have had a good weight loss.”
