When Monika’s son, Zachary, was born at just 34 weeks, he was only given a 10% chance of survival. Now, more than four years on, both mother and son are thriving…
“When I gave birth to Zachary, we were both in a critical condition for several days. As a result, he had a double hernia operation at three months old; it was heartbreaking for me.
“In the first year and a half of Zachary’s life, I gained five stone from stress and helplessness over his condition and newly-created bad habits. Food was my escape and something I could turn to for comfort at a time when I felt lost and empty. I wasn’t even able to enjoy being a mother; it felt too difficult and overwhelming.
“I felt so low. If it wasn’t for Zachary, I didn’t feel like I had any reason to live. I went to see numerous doctors, as my knees and elbows were swelling to the point where I couldn’t bend them. After a couple of months of multiple tests, but inconclusive results, I decided I had to do something about my weight.
“The day I discovered The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan was the day that changed my life forever. I text my Consultant Justine Lawrence-Piccott saying ‘I am a chef and caterer and I cook healthy food for kids but I can’t help myself.’”
Week after week, Monika visited her Consultant Justine, striving until she reached her goal.
“My family and friends knew what I was going through emotionally and mentally over the last couple of years and they wanted the old me back just as much as I did. Their support was necessary for my success, almost as much as Justine and the products. I never hid that I was on Plan and shared my experiences the whole way through with anyone who wanted to know. I didn’t just find an amazing Consultant that I clicked with, I made a friend for life.”
Monika is now a full-time Consultant, helping others achieve their goals.
“When I first became a Consultant I treated it as a hobby, it was all about giving back and changing people’s lives. I now need it in my life, it’s something that keeps me going and at times keeps me sane. I have a lot of very successful slimmers and their determination is something that motivates me on daily basis. I’m very grateful for that.
“Zachary is now four and half, a happy, healthy boy, a far cry from that tiny baby that entered the world weighing just 5lbs. He really is the light of my life. I don’t need one special day to celebrate being his mummy, we try and celebrated this every day.”
The weight lost and/or time frames are particular to this slimmer. Everyone’s weight loss journey is unique to them.
