Stockport-based Anthony (Ant) Wicks, 40, has been on quite a journey with Cambridge Weight Plan and it’s become a family affair as he tells us here…
“My journey began 10 years ago when my wife, Debbie, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was a smoker at the time and gave up, but replacing cigarettes with food meant that I gradually put on three-and-half stone.
“Thankfully, Debbie beat the cancer and is now in full remission, but with all the treatment she had over five years, she too put on some weight. This meant she couldn’t have reconstruction surgery straightaway and needed to get her BMI below 30.
“Over the next four-and-a-half years we both tried several diets but none of them gave us any lasting results although, looking back, our mind set was more about ‘living for today’, so I suppose we never really fully committed.
“Then, last April, as I had my 40th birthday coming up, we booked to go to New York and I decided enough was enough – I wasn’t going to waddle around the Big Apple! We had five weeks to make a change…
“My mum had tried Cambridge Weight Plan and I am friends with Les Beazley, Star Loser Slimmer of the Year winner, so I had seen the results they were having and how it was changing lives. So, together, Debbie and I decided to try Cambridge Weight Plan and that’s when we went to see our Consultant, Julia Tait.
“By the time we went to New York, I had lost two stone and I lost an extra pound in New York by walking everywhere and drinking water.
“I quickly reached my goal of losing three stone and I am now learning how to maintain. Yes, I have a few wobbles but I am managing my weight and, with effective use of CWP, I am keeping it off!
“Debbie is now under her target of BMI 30 and can have the surgery she needs, but she is staying on Plan a little longer to get to exactly where she wants to be.
“Cambridge Weight Plan has changed my life. I feel more energised and confident in myself. I can wear clothes from places like Superdry and Hollister, which I wouldn’t have considered before, as I couldn’t get anywhere near them!
“We now have a more active life as a family and are able to do more things with Ben. We feel differently about ourselves and don’t have as many reservations about trying new things! I’m even planning to go on a bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool; it’s all great.
“I have also introduced my younger sister, who has just turned 18, to Cambridge Weight Plan. She is on Plan now and has lost over eight stone so far. Cambridge Weight Plan really is having a positive effect on my whole family.”
The weight lost and/or time frames are particular to this slimmer. Everyone’s weight loss journey is unique to them.
