You know you’re a mum when…
You clean the whole house, but 2 minutes later and it’s like that never happened!
You’d rather sit in a silent car for an hour than wake a sleeping child
You have snot on you, that isn’t yours & you just don’t care
You can’t remember the last time you bathed or peed alone
…or when you last had a solid block of sleep lasting more than two hours
You eat snacks with your head in the cupboard
Your favourite songs have been replaced with nursery rhymes and CBBCs show themes in your ‘ear worm’ repertoire
You often think of your life before kids and wander what you did with all your “free” time. But, still for some silly reason can’t imagine your life without your little ones
Going to work is a break
Your children are fresh, clean and in lovely outfits, and you still have the same clothes on from 3 days ago
When you learn to inhale your food just so you can eat a whole meal in one sitting
You get mad when your friends who have no children tell you they’re tired
When you go to bed tired and wake up tired
Your hot drink is never hot when you actually get to drink it!
And so microwaving yesterday’s coffee becomes acceptable
You become super skilled at doing everything one handed because your so used to having a baby in the other
You talk to yourself and call yourself mummy when the child is asleep
You also find yourself still watching ‘Paw Patrol’ long after your child has gone down for their nap/gone to bed
You’re on your way to work and you realise your laptop has been swapped out your bag for a stack of “That’s not my…” books
You never leave the house without making sure you have snacks, water and a change of clothes for everyone
On a rare night out all you find yourself able to do is talk about your child and show off their pictures and videos
You do all the things you said you wouldn’t!
…but you know you wouldn’t have it any other way!
Here’s to all the amazing mum’s out there, Happy Mother’s Day!
