It’s World Compliment Day on Wednesday 1st March and taking part in the seventh annual event couldn’t be simpler!
It won’t cost you anything, apart from giving someone a lovely compliment in words, not gifts. You’d think it would be easy but it’s amazing how often we forget to give words of encouragement.
We don’t compliment each other enough and say things out loud, but it could lift someone’s spirits so much.
Losing weight, no matter how much or little, is not straightforward and requires self-motivation and dedication. If you know someone on a weight-loss journey with Cambridge Weight Plan, tell them how well they are doing and try to encourage them.
Being positive rather than negative about someone can really help increase their self-esteem and make them strive to achieve more. What’s more, it doesn’t take much or cost anything to say something good to someone.
You could say something like: ‘That top looks great on you, it suits you so much,’ or tell them you can really notice their weight loss.
Anyone trying to lose weight may be struggling to stay motivated for various reasons. Paying a kind compliment to them like: ‘Wow, you look amazing at the moment. What’s your secret?’ could really lift their spirits at a time when they need it most.
So how do you pay a compliment to someone thinking about beginning a weight-loss journey with Cambridge Weight Plan, but struggling to make that first contact with a Consultant because they feel embarrassed or a failure?
You could say: ‘I know this will be hard, but I’m going to be behind you every step of the way. You can do it!’
Just a few motivational words can go such a long way. We all lead such busy lives in this 24/7 culture dominated by social media, but taking a few moments to pay someone a compliment could make their day and be the difference in them continuing, or beginning, their weight-loss journey.
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself too! Why not practice the art of complimenting others by starting with yourself? Stand in front of the mirror and find five things you really like about yourself – whether these are physical attributes (lovely eyes or great hair), or wonderful qualities that you might possess (kindness, being a great listener etc.), compliment yourself out loud!
Studies show that those who repeat positive affirmations to themselves every morning are less stressed and perform better, so why not channel all of that positive energy into your weight-loss journey!
If you want to see the compliments start pouring in from others about you, have you considered signing up with Cambridge Weight Plan? So many of our successful slimmers say the best part of their journey is how complimentary everyone around them has been since they lost weight!
