“In 2017, I ended up in hospital with breathing difficulties and heart palpitations which felt like I was having a heart attack. While in hospital I made the decision I had to lose weight.
“I was breathless all the time, had no energy to run around after my children. I had no confidence and wasn’t happy in my body. My doctor had warned me I had a fatty liver and was pre-diabetic. I wanted to be a fit and healthy dad for my kids and I was failing.
“My wife introduced me to Lianne, our Consultant. I was determined to get rid of the weight for my own health and to make my kids proud of me.
“I feel fit and energetic, and my children are proud of me and now we have an additional member of the family, our beautiful daughter. We’ve been married for 17 years and have never been as slim as we are now. We both feel amazing. People walk past us when they see us as they don’t recognise us.”
“My moto used to be, ‘I know I’ll never be a size 10 so I just have to get on with it’. Well, because of Cambridge Weight Plan I got to a size 10, unbelievable! My husband and I have lost 16 stone between us.
“I have polycystic ovaries, which means I have difficulty having children and losing weight. After fertility treatment we were blessed with two children. We have always wanted a third child, but for eight years we had been trying to fall pregnant. We were about to start looking into fertility treatment again, when in December 2017, I was two pounds away from reaching my six stone loss when I found out I was expecting.
“After eight years of trying we now have a beautiful, miracle baby daughter! The best gift we could have asked for.”

“My goal was to be lighter than my hubby. We have been happily married for 56 years and have never kept any secrets from each other except one big one . . . Laurie never knew my weight.
“When I was in hospital following a heart attack, the doctor asked me what my weight was, to administer some urgent medication. I asked Laurie if he would leave the room while I told the doctor. I couldn’t let him know how heavy I was.
“I finally found a diet I could stick too and in just over a year I was at my goal weight. I made Laurie get on the scales to prove I weighed less than he did and finally told him what I weighed.
“Slowly, but surely, I have become a different person. People I have known for years no longer recognise me and, most of all, my health has improved so much.”
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2016. I became extremely tired, struggling with cancer treatment and holding down a full-time job.
“The sofa became my best friend during this time as I was so tired and lacking in any energy. The weight continued to pile on. Lying on the sofa at home in the evenings, food was my comfort.
“My mum started to lose weight and it was working for her. I saw immense changes and she was looking great. It was great to see and I felt so proud of her and encouraged her to keep going.
“I said to myself that as soon as I was given the all-clear from cancer, I was going to give this diet a go. I celebrated my 50th birthday during my treatment time and was determined that cancer was not going to beat me. On 17th January, 2018, I was given the all-clear.
“I had been given a new chance at life, and the NHS had spent so much money on getting rid of my cancer, I felt I had to show that I had been worth the expensive treatments.”

“After many years kidding myself that I was just a ‘big lad’ I finally decided that I needed to do something about my weight. It had started to dominate every part of my life; I would wake up and look at myself in the mirror and get really down, my physical health was suffering too.
“I’m a university sports lecturer talking about physical fitness, childhood obesity, sports development and those areas. The turning point for me came when I had to order a new shirt – or tent as I like to call it – for the graduation ceremony. How could I be lecturing others on obesity at the size I was?
“My new found energy and fitness has been life-changing. Running is now a huge part of my life – I run at least three to four times a week, take part in my local weekly Parkrun and have completed two 10K races and two half-marathons.
“My relationship with my wife and children has changed beyond recognition; ‘daddy you are just so thin now I can get my arms all the way round you!’. I truly believe that to have achieved this now has meant I have saved my life – something I never thought I would say.”
“I have spent the majority of my career working as a dance teacher, in mirrored studios surrounded by slim, talented students.
“A change of career meant my eating habits had drastically changed. I was relying on easy, sugar- filled foods to boost my energy throughout the day. I was gaining weight, which was affecting my ability to move around with the children at work and my energy levels were low.
“Meanwhile, my husband, Henry, who has also struggled with his weight for many years, had found Cambridge Weight Plan and was rapidly losing weight and feeling and looking fantastic.
“I had no idea how much I weighed, but I realised Henry now probably weighed less than me. I felt embarrassed to have let myself get to that weight and a part of me wanted to leave right then.
“I am now back to the weight I was when I got married 15 years ago. I feel fitter and healthier than ever and my energy levels are through the roof! My husband has been a constant inspiration, we even had the confidence to bear all on the beach this summer. It’s been 15 years since I’ve been able to do that . . . in fact, it was the same bikini I wore back then on my honeymoon!”
