1. New Year, new diet
For many people the first thing they choose to change in the New Year is their diet, in 2015 the most set New Year’s resolution was to lose weight. Why not look into Cambridge Weight Plan’s flexible weight-loss resolutions and speak to a Consultant today about starting working towards a new you.
Fitting perfectly alongside weight loss is improving your fitness levels. Not only is cardiovascular exercise good for your body, heart and health but it’ll also help you burn calories to aid weight loss. We have some great articles to get you started whether you want to take those first steps, jump in the deep end or download an app and hit the road running.
3. Shape up
With your weight-loss plan in place and fitness levels improving, why not start thinking about ways to tone up your newly emerging shape too? Whether you want to workout while you catch up on Netflix’s latest series, while you get ready to party or are in the great outdoors we’ve got some great workouts to get you started.
While crafting this awesome new image, you might want to clear out your wardrobe and start again. You could do this in stages and rework the clothes you already have as you lose weight, or wait till you get to goal and go for a total makeover and revamp your style. Why not start a pinterest board to start getting some inspiration for the new you? Now is the time to make like Bowie and become the queen (or king) of reinvention.
5. New hair
The quickest way to kick start the New Year in 2017 is a dramatic hair transformation. Be bold, be brave, chop those locks into that dramatic elfin pixie cut, break out the fun fashion colours, or try one of those funky undercut pattern styles that have been circulating lately. If you’re not feeling quite so brave why not try a subtler change up to your style; cutting in a fringe, getting highlights, even trying a different styling technique, curl if you usually straighten, master the messy bun if you always wear your hair down. Invest in some cute hair accessories. Don’t be afraid of trying something new.
6. Refresh your make-up kit
Invest in some new make-up and practice some new techniques – why not have a look at our tutorials for smokey eyes and red lips to switch up your make-up looks a little bit. Buy some new eyeshadow colours or step out of your lip colour comfort zone.
7. Don’t forget about accessories
Are you a stickler for a sensible shoe paired with a colour matched bag? Break the rules! Buy a pair of really fun, brightly coloured shoes, experiment with metallic handbags that can work day, evening and weekend. Swap simple jewellery for statement pieces and vice versa.
8. Look after your skin
Sometimes a top to toe pamper is in order to make sure the new you is glowing on the outside, taking a day out to recharge and look after yourself every now and again is important. With the cold weather at this time of the year it’s a good idea to keep yourself moisturised and hydrated.
9. Healthy habits
Speaking of hydration – the new you should think about healthy habits to introduce into your daily life. The number one to consider would be drinking enough water, other things to think about would be stopping bad habits for the sake of your health, for instance smoking.*
10. Work on the inside
2016 brought mindfulness to the public eye in a bigger way than ever before. With the explosion of colouring books and apps like Headspace teaching breathing techniques, meditation has never been more of the ‘now’ celebrities like from Oprah to Katy Perry swear by the practice – make sure the new you takes time to breathe and clear her own headspace every now and again.
